Club Meetings

The March meeting of the Mother Lode DX/Contest Club will be at Mountain Mike's Pizza in Martell on March 15 at 11:30AM. Mountain Mike's is where the old Round Table Pizza was formerly located. It is in the shopping center with SaveMart on Highway 88, just west of Highway 49.

The agenda and program is Jim Brown, K9YC on “Everything you wanted to know about chokes and baluns”. And, how to employ them to solve RF interference problems.

About the Presenter: Jim Brown, K9YC, started out in ham radio in 1955 as WN8FNI, later W9NEC. Jim has worked in broadcasting and pro audio since 1960. Beginning about five years ago, in conjunction with his work as Vice-Chair of the Standards Committee of the Audio Engineering Society, Jim began extensive research and publication on interference to sound systems at both audio and RF. Ferrite chokes are a very useful tool in the suppression of RFI, so his work focused on understanding them.
